The walking mattress man is coming to Michigan! Gui Prada is renowned for his masterfully advanced and comfortable fundamentals with some of the smoothest flow you’ve ever seen and a splash of flashiness when necessary. His methods of breaking down movements into their smallest parts to increase balance and sensitivity throughout them changes the way his students dance forever. As one of the lead instructors for District Zouk, he has taught many unbelievably talented, accomplished, and more importantly, comfortable dancers and supported many scenes all over the world. You may know him from any of his many lovely videos on youtube, from having won the Advanced JnJ Competition at Canada Zouk this year, or maybe you’ve been lucky enough to dance with him! Don’t just take our word for it; you can ask other people in our dance scenes or find out for yourself by watching his exploits online!
We are honored to have him here in East Lansing (or, more accurately, Haslett) to teach and dance with us this weekend, and we will do our best to provide an atmosphere that matches his energy. If you have any questions about the weekend, please feel free to reach out to us!

Where to stay🏘️
We are trying to organize accommodations for people coming from out of state, and there is information in the sign up survey about that. Our list of Airbnbs that are available for $115 or less per person (for Friday to Sunday) is below. These are available as of 7/14/22, and many have free cancellation until right before the event if you'd like to reserve them sooner rather than later. The spreadsheet with the Airbnb links has spots to put your names if this helps with organizing roommates!

For those flying, Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids are all options. Public transit options from Detroit and Grand Rapids are below, and we will be putting together a spreadsheet to help organize rideshares or carpooling based on the sign up survey. For those driving in, we will also do our best to help – some of this is already in the sign up survey.
Greyhound buses between Grand Rapids and East Lansing (note that all buses are between 12 PM and 4 PM both ways and will need a taxi/uber from airport to bus station): https://www.greyhound.com/en/ecommerce/schedule
Michigan Flyer buses between Detroit Airport and East Lansing (note that last return bus from East Lansing to Detroit is at 4:30 PM if/when booking): https://www.michiganflyer.com/#
Our event will require proof of negative COVID test but will NOT require proof of vaccination.
The exact testing policy and masking policy will be updated to better reflect the state of cases in the state closer to the time of the event.
